Today was my first doctor appointment with the Madison's Women's Clinic in Rexburg. My appointment was at 2 thirty, right after my classes were finished for the day. I was pretty nervous at first, not knowing what was about to go down. I am not one for needles, and I know I will have to get over that soon, but I was lucky enough to not have to deal with any needles or drawing blood today. The nurse asked me about my papsmear history and I said it was blank, meaning I have had none...So I thought that I was going to have to deal with that. But nope! So it was a lucky day.
The first thing I had to do was give a urine sample, and this was not an easy thing to do because I really did not have to go at all. I gave them about 2 drops and gave the cup to the nurse and said "thats all I got." Luckily it was enough! Im not sure how that little amount of urine will be enough to show the doctor whatever he needs to see, but I guess it was good enough! The next part they took me to the ultrasound room and the nurse told me I would have to do a vaginal ultrasound, yeah I know, yikes. So she gave me some flimsy paper towel blanket to cover up with and of course I snag it on a random corner and rip it, showing my upper thighs to the world, so we had to double up on the paper towel blankets. Then she grabs this wand looking thing, puts gel on it, tells me this will feel a little weird, and then....well, I think you can see where this is going (pun not intended, well, it could be intended).
After the camera wand was in place, I could see it! It is really true that I have a baby inside me! What was even more weird was that it was moving, and it was moving alot! It was throwing up punches, waving, kicking my uterus, bobbing its head around, and Cragen loves to tell people that he was scratching it's head, who knows, it could have been! I wonder what is going on in there becuase it was having a party! As I was watching the screen I couldnt help but start cracking up, I am not sure why but it was just very humerous to me that there is really something living in me and it is moving around like crazy. I thought it would just be sitting there, kicking back and relaxing since I am only 10 weeks along, but I was so very wrong. It was funny to me and everytime I laughed I would accidently move the camera, so I tried to contain myself as much as possible. The nurse was able to take pictures and also made us a dvd of the moving child, and we have watched it about 10 times today already! Technology is amazing.
So I dont know much about Little Retherford but we did find out that the heart rate is 166bmp, which apparently is good. And it is 2.93 centimeters long, which is a little over an inch. The nurse said both of those things are really good and shows a healthy baby so far! So giddy up for that! Well, thats all for now, I am tired and need to sleep. But I just wanted to let the world know, well, the blogging world at least, that it is not a prank or a fable.....I am 100% pregnant....I am growing every week, I no longer can really zip up my pants nor do I have the desire to try(it takes to much effort), and my baby inside me moves like crazy!
My goodness, I'm so excited to see the little baby! I hope you are enjoying life, I was so happy to see that you found our blog--now I can follow yours!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteI love the nurses at MWC. They're my doctor's office of choice, and I just adore them. I don't see much of the doctor anymore now that my son is grown, but I still see the nurses for my benefit. They rock!!
[You commented on my pictures that Sarah Christensen took back in November so I felt like learning about you. :)]
